Programs |
- Academic Decathlon
The Academic Decathlon is chaired by Ms. Torres and consists
of students from grades 6 – 8. The decathletes meet Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays with their coaches in order
to study for the upcoming Archdiocese of Los Angeles Junior High Academic Decathlon taking place on Saturday, March 6, 2010.

- Student Council
The Student Council is our school’s governmental
system consisting of students who demonstrate leadership skills, academic
excellence, and good citizenship. Under
the leadership of Ms. Torres, the students meet every Tuesday after school in
order to discuss and plan school-related events and fundraising ideas.

- Sports
San Miguel School offers after school sports
programs to students of grades 6 – 8. Our girls and boys participate in flag
football, volleyball, and basketball sponsored by the Catholic Youth
Organization (CYO).

- Study Hall
Study Hall is offered every Monday, Tuesday, and
Thursday for students who need extra support with homework. Teachers work with their students after
school providing them with individualized assistance.

Mentor and
Distinguished Speaker Program
Students of grade 8 participate in a mentor and
distinguished speaker program coordinated by Mr. Thomas Beck, a renowned
attorney from Pasadena and current School Board chair. Mr. Beck mentors the 8th grade
students and provides opportunities for guest speakers to inspire and motivate
our students.Distinguished Speakers

Hot Lunch Program
Our students participate in the Preferred Meals
Federal Lunch Program providing our students with daily breakfast and
lunch. Over 95% of our students receive
their meals at a discounted price or at no cost at all. Students also have the option of bringing in
a snack lunch from home. Parents may
bring their children lunch during school hours, however, fast food is strongly
discouraged. |
